Holy happenings

It’s time once again for Buddhist pilgrims across the country to gather to commemorate the holy days of Asarnha Bucha Day and Khao Pansa Day (Buddhist Lent Day) on July 22 and 23, respectively.
Read the following story to learn more about these sacred days and some related activities.
During the important annual Buddhist holidays, Asarnha Bucha Day and Khao Phansa Day, Buddhists throughout Thailand will make merit and observe the five precepts, while monks will begin a three month period of staying at temples.

MONTHS OF MERIT
Asarnha Bucha, which this year falls on July 22, is celebrated countrywide by making merit, listening to sermons and joining candlelit processions at night. The day following Asarnha Bucha Day is Khao Phansa Day.
After Kaho Phansa Day, Thai monks avoid unnecessary travel for three consecutive lunar months during the rainy season for fear that they might accidentally step on young plants or tiny animals.

MASS PRAYER
Apart from temples and religious centres, some non-profit organisations will organise special events for Asarnha Bucha and Khao Phansa this year.
The Chon Buri Red Cross Society will arrange a mass praying sessions between 20 and 23 July at the Buddha Saviga Dhamma Centre in Banbeung district of Chon Buri. For further inquiries about this event, call 038 279 448.

SOUTHERN CELEBRATION

The southern government agency, Trang Provincial Office, is pleased to welcome Buddhists to join the candlelit procession at its office in the heart of Trang province. Trang governor Teerayut Eimtrakul invites attendants to wear white clothes, offer alms to monks, listen to sermons, and pray together for success and prosperity. The celebration will be held from July 22 to 23.

On July 22 and 23 is Holy day of Thailand. It’s important day that are Asarnha Bucha Day and Khao Pansa Day. Tn these day Buddhists Thailand will make merit and obsevrve the five precepts. That is the day that important for Thai people and monk by three month the monk staying at temples. Many people go to temples on this day for making merit with their families. So, this day is important day with Buddhists.

Asarnha Bucha Day and Khao Pansa Day are important to make merit of Buddhists in Thailand. There are once in a year. Thai monk avoid unnecessary travel for three consecutive lunar months during the rainy seasons for fear that they might accidentally step on young plants or tiny animals. Activities that do in this day have people wear white clothes, offer alms to monks, listen to sermons and pray together for success and prosperity. Many people in everywhere go to temples on this day.

This day is holy day of Thailand that for Buddhists. The Buddhists go to temples for making merit with their families. Three month period that monks staying at temples by don’t go out temples. In this day, many people will go to temples and joining candlelit. I think, this day is important for me monk because we can make merit. When I go to temples, I have clear brain and happy.
