Today,
I read academic reading from teaching English Forum. The article name is
“Designing Lessons for EFL Listening Comprehension Classes ” This article about design lessons. There are
5 principles to design a lesson. First, motivating students to focus on the
learning objective, Second, maintaining the same topic and objective for
consecutive activities, Third, applying appropriate teaching methods and
techniques, Fourth, selecting materials for listening comprehension activities,
and using authentic materials. These 5 principle are most important to design a
listening lesson.
The
first principle, motivating students to focus on the learning objective. When
students clearly understand the purpose of a particular listening comprehension
activity, they will be better able to focus on essential vocabulary and grammar
and listen for specific information. The second, maintaining the same topic and
objective for consecutive activities. teachers can maintain the same topic and
objective throughout several activities in one lesson. The Third, applying
appropriate teaching methods and techniques. When designing listening
comprehension lessons, teachers should apply the following methods and
techniques to make the lessons challenging, effective, and interesting to the
students. Fourth, selecting materials for listening comprehension activities.
When selecting materials, the following criteria can be used to make listening
comprehension activities both productive and engaging. And using authentic
materials. When designing listening comprehension materials, the teacher should
be aware that authentic materials give the learner the chance to develop skills
that are needed in real-life situations. Designing this lesson teacher must
know 5 principles and can put planning to design the lesson. It’s important
teacher must know level, abilities of students for they study more effectively.
Designing lesson is difficult or easy
are depend on managing of teacher who is important to design the lesson.
Teacher must know need’s students, levels, abilities and etc. When teacher know
about them, teacher will manage the lesson is easier than teacher don’t know
everything. I think listening skill is important to students can communicate
with their friend and teacher. When students can listening, they can speak.
Which teaching language, teacher must teach students to communicate and there
are participate with friend and teacher.
